good morning children my name is covalent Guerrero and this is your Wednesday broadcast where we discuss things that matter to you because it matters to you is what matters to us continuing from last week we had mrs. cozy who is going to explain how to create a charcoal drawing I'm a drawing and painting teacher here at Mililani high school today I'm here to talk about drawing with charcoal I have come up with a four-step method of working your charcoal tools the first step is using your venture can you just draw a quick Contour Edge and put in your license dark and then you work with the compressed charcoal and you go over where the dark side lights are and blend them together your third step is to put in hotels and texture so that's where your charcoal pencil will come into play in the end you're going to use your two erasers to find the highlights and add those back in and also blend a little bit with your erase I have a nice little flower I chose from one of our trees right outside the door. Is that is easily a race if you don't draw too hard to get a little bit of the kneaded Eraser erasers Gray for erasing charcoal need it and pull it apart and that's actually how you clean it so I'm just being very careful trying not to draw too dark I'm getting a little Edge going here am I going to draw that glass jar no I don't want that in there so I can choose what I'm going to put in and what I'm going to leave out now we know that in step one I'm supposed to put lights and darks and I'm going to just take the side of my tool so I didn't put any Faith Hill and all I did was get that Contour where I wanted it to find out where the darks and lights are the best thing to do it's really silly is winterize if I squint my eyes at my flower am I leave and I see that these flowers petals are darker than the leaves so I'm going to give them even a darker tone and now I'm going to go in for my compressed charcoal so I told myself that the darkest areas were those petals and I'm going to now I'm going to be really careful I tell my students I'm not going to do the van Gogh outline Django love to outline everything and I don't really think that's a great thing to do and then you should pick and choose what areas you're going to outline with interesting is that the veins in the leaves are the later part so that's going to be me and I'm going to use my pink pearl to pull that out after in order to get a really nice blend you have to put both charcoal go and look at that pedal my going to stop it's just beautiful so we're going to add in some darts here who got the who gets excited about on flower petal Ms this is not Blended yet blending okay so now we're going to take her finger and we're going to blend this believer rounds I kind of landed those wrong and now the pedals are longer my next step is my pencil put in some extra detail feel like these petals are a sort of feathery so I'm going to like try to get that center field trip always coming soon as if your pencil is you're pressing too hard sometimes with the charcoal pencil you can actually find your Edge a little bit sometimes with you blend and it's not exactly on the edge you can go back in and find that edge this is why it is really taking away from lots of charcoal on my finger and I like to even add more and just kind of go around it doesn't have to be perfect that works now we need to go in with her pink and pull out some of those highlights put in a few of those lighter vein lines rubbing the Eraser you can also erase it on your drawing board or your your table it's not going to it helps to erase better so look at the movement of your flower is not straight it's curving that's what that first one in and then choose how many of these am I going to put in there I don't think I'm going to put all of them and I'm on my last one over here okay well that is basically the four steps for how to draw with charcoal and if you enjoyed seeing that and you I'd like to learn more about drawing please join me in drawing class and I can see a lot more besides charcoal but I hope you enjoyed this and hope to see you all again later thank you mrs. healthy for teaching us how to create a charcoal drawing next week will be joining the physical education department that's all for your money bulletin have a wonderful Wednesday and stay safe Trojans
